What to expect and the Mango experience

Managing expectations and getting it right

Making the decision to move forward with a landscaping project is a big commitment and we want you to enjoy the experience every step of the way. This is why we have created our ‘customer journey plan’ which is part of your Mango experience. Along with being accredited to The APL ‘Association of Professional Landscapers’ for your peace of mind, we have made a pledge;

Our 5 point promise to you..

1 FOCUSED ON YOU. You have us all to yourself. We won’t leave your job to attend to another, we are strictly a ‘one project at a time’ company. Your On-Site Project Manager and Team will focus on you and your project from start to finish.

Because we understand that living with trades and contractors at home can sometimes be overwhelming, we like to try and keep disruption to a minimum for your convenience. We get great job satisfaction from enjoying the rapport and relationships that we build with our clients on site, in the office and even by video call.

2 FINANCIAL CLARITY. There’s no confusion here, our quotations are broken down to show a clear disbursement of funds that make up your project. Because prices fluctuate our quotations are valid for up to ten days. Once you have approved our quotation you don’t need to worry about the price changing, unless you want something extra or we find something unexpected once work has begun.

Unforeseen circumstances may result in additional costs, for example by adverse weather conditions or unexpected things we find underground, but rest assured, we will discuss this on site with you and will only continue once we are all agreed. There is no need to worry about us over-running and paying extra. If we take a little longer to ensure good workmanship you pay the labour approved on our quote and we absorb the rest. So, peace of mind all the way. No grey areas or hidden surprises here.

3 QUALITY ASSURANCE. Our Mango Installation Warranty is in place to back up what we say. It is part of your ‘Aftercare Assurance’ and if anything should go wrong down the line, you can feel safe in the knowledge that you are welcome to call us at any time. Our Assessor will arrange an appointment, write the report and where necessary organise us to come and put it right.

4 OUR COMMITMENT TO BEING PRESENT. Our investment is having an office for visitors and clients to come for advice and support, ideas and inspiration and to raise questions or concerns. There will always be someone at the office or at the end of the telephone to help you. Our Site is fully risk assessed and compliant for your safety and we are SMAS Worksafe Approved.

5 CONSISTENCY AND RELIABILITY. You won’t just be paying for products, you will be investing in a reliable and skilled workforce who are courteous and conscientious too.

We will always provide high end workmanship and finishing, and leave your home clean and tidy when we leave. The office will be in touch to check that all is agreeable and to make sure that nothing is left behind.

We are here to help so please get to know us better and click here to meet the team.

The future’s bright, the future’s Mango…

In 2016, to accommodate the growth of the business, we acquired a small piece of land from the farmer at Newcourt Barton.

Our vision was clear, we wanted to create a fully functional yard with sheds, storage, vehicle bays,  offices and showroom, so how did we get from that to this…

Well, seeing as we are in the landscaping business, we set to work, in between jobs and during every spare hour to clear the site, prepare the ground, build walls, set fencing and construct our lean-to.

Using the site was not without trepidation during the wet and arduous winter months, however, with much spirit and determination we continued our quest to create the perfect new home for our busy growing landscaping company.

We now have many visiting customers each day making appointments for creative consultations, view product samples, see our outdoor kitchen and canopy area and book surveys, quotes and visualisations.

So why not make your appointment to come and see us and talk about your dream garden or driveway.

The Training Provider

About the trainer: Dor has been in the industry for over 15 years and specialises in hard landscaping. He started the company, Mango Landscapes in 2008 which has now grown into Mango Paving & Landscaping Ltd specialising in hard landscaping and garden construction. Dor has single handedly trained, nurtured and supervised a team of full-time fully trained professional landscapers, some of which have now proudly flown and started for themselves.

Mango Training has been evolving over the last few years where we have been organising our site to accommodate external workshops outside of our own staff training.

Ultimately, the passion for Dor wanting to share his knowledge, has stemmed from many heartbreaking visits to customers who have experienced poor workmanship and over pricing. Having witnessed a rapid increase in numbers of cases since the first Covid Lockdown, we have now prioritised the decision to increase the general standards within our industry on a local level and our training is now set to roll out in Spring 2022 with our first workshop scheduled for 01 March 2022.

Professional Landscapers

The Association of Professional Landscapers (APL) comprises a network of accredited landscape companies who design, build and maintain gardens throughout the UK. The rigorous inspection process to join is the toughest within the industry. Along with the initial inspection, each member is inspected annually to ensure that they have up to date insurance, complies with health and safety law and their quality of work is to the highest standards possible. The APL is the only landscaping scheme operator of Trustmark, a Government endorsed initiative that promotes professional trades to consumers.

Mango Paving & Landscaping are accredited members of The APL & Trustmark. We have a strong relationship to ensure that we deliver the best training at a sensible price.

What is a Professional Landscaper?

Well, let’s start with what it means to be a ‘professional’, someone with competence, knowledge and trade related skills.

I believe a true ‘professional landscaper’ must be friendly, dependable and courteous with a strong mindset and work ethic, as well as being a multi-skilled worker of various trades, all in one amazing person, let me show you.

This is a Mango landscaper who works with young apprentices, men and women in the trade. Let’s call our Mango landscape professional, Doug! He is Customer Service focused and is a thoroughly nice person, as well as having experience or some knowledge in all of the key skills listed below;

When we talk about hard landscaping and garden construction, the skills required are endless and there are many different hats to wear….

Customer service is paramount. Forward planning, administration and organisation skills are critical for the smooth and safe on-site project management and facilitating of deliveries and collections.

There is measuring, calculating falls, heights and gradients, volumes, angles, square meterage, depths and circumferences, triangulation, off setting and setting out, so this is where the surveying knowledge and maths comes in.

Understanding risk and health and safety, knowing how to look after yourself and your team with some nutritional understanding and kinetic handling for physically demanding work and heavy lifting. Motivation, stamina and pride are useful traits to have here.

Our landscape professionals also need to be commercial drivers, plant operators, fork lift truck drivers and be trailer qualified. Investment into continuous training and personal development is an essential part of our Mango philosophy.

There is drainage to consider, pipework and groundworks, water features and irrigation systems, lighting, solar and charging stations to know about as well as careful selection in specialist bona-fide sub-contractors.

So you see, there is much more to landscaping than just digging. As well as all these skills they are a friendly, polite, funny and courteous bunch who take great pride in their work.

What is a Professional Landscaping Company?

The Landscaping Industry is not officially regulated, however, there are trade body associations that exist to help promote quality and protect consumers.

For example; TrustMark is a not-for-profit social enterprise and the only Government Endorsed Quality Scheme in the UK covering home improvements in or around the home.

TrustMark Registered Businesses are thoroughly vetted and continually monitored to ensure they meet required standards in technical competence, customer service and trading practices, so homeowners can be sure they’re making the right choice.

When a consumer uses a TrustMark Registered Business, they know they are engaging with an organisation that has been thoroughly vetted to meet required standards, and has made a considerable commitment to good customer service, technical competence and trading practices. By ensuring all Registered Businesses adhere to and maintain these standards through our expert network of Scheme Providers, TrustMark gives consumers increased confidence and choice.

Whilst the landscaping industry remains officially unregulated, The APL or Association of Professional Landscapers is a trade body who aim to promote the highest level of standards within the industry.

The Association of Professional Landscapers (APL) comprises accredited landscape companies who design, build and maintain gardens throughout the UK. The rigorous inspection process to join is the toughest within the industry. Doing your Due Diligence

So when it comes to looking for a professional landscaping company it is important to do your homework and find a bona fide contractor in hard landscaping and garden construction.

Hard landscaping and garden construction is expensive, there is no getting away from this and it is our job to help you understand what is involved and how much things cost. In an ideal world we only want to invest in our gardens or driveways once, therefore we want to do it properly the first time around.

Often, when we, as consumers, have decided to invest in our gardens, we often don’t want to have to wait. Please don’t rush, there is often much to consider.

It is important to take your time and find a contractor that you feel comfortable with, make sure that they understand the brief and budget and make sure that you are clear on their terms and timescales.

What to Expect & The Mango Experience

We often book a few months in advance to give us all time to talk things through and finalise your project plans, this is so we are clear on what will be happening and when.

So, when you contact us we will talk briefly about your ideas and requirements, book a site survey and technical visit.

We will then forward an invitation to you for a complimentary creative consultation at our office. This is where we can look at products and materials, choose colors and discuss the functionality and purpose of your garden and the overall design.

We will provide a comprehensive written quotation, broken down into sections to show clearly the disbursement of your funds that make up the overall costs of your project. We can talk about terms and conditions, payments, warranties and aftercare.

You can view and approve your quotations in our Mango Client Hub, then sit back and relax whilst we facilitate and carry out the preparations for your garden project.
