When you buy a service instead of a specific product, it can be more difficult to give a clear idea on how much this should cost, but the good thing is that we have been selling and installing patios in Exeter, East Devon and surrounding areas for more than ten years. Here are some basic figures of how much you should be paying.
An average patio installed by a reputable company will cost in the region of £100-£150 per square meter. The price of each square meter will decrease as the size of the area increases to a certain extent. Also this all comes down to what type of paving you choose, the amount of excavation required (particularly sloped areas), access to the site and many other factors, like VAT for example. Some landscaping companies are not registered for VAT which itself if 20% difference between quotations.
Often we see large price differentials between quotes and it is not uncommon for larger companies to be more expensive than independent labourers or traders, but why?
In most cases, this is often due to investments into a fully employed workforce, training, accreditations, awards and warranties for peace of mind. Also, not to mention of course larger organisations are known as ‘victims of their own success’ by having to charge VAT and this often overlooked.
